77th Ritual: Good and Evil
A calm and peaceful evening to every being.
May she empower us through her wisdom.
The holy word teaches us:
evil exists
to make sure
everyone can
consider themselves
infallibly good
and everyone they don’t like
as infallibly evil.
yes, goddess.
I used to be so scared of ending up on the wrong side - but trying to follow morals and other people’s judgment is a fallacy. These things are power structures, and more often than not their brutality is hardly even concealed.
Goddess, you freed me from the constant fear of ending up on the wrong side - because I will not accept anyone’s attempt to coerce me into their conception of morality. I know where I firmly stand: Beneath your magnificent rule, abiding by your teachings, the values that you have taught me, the things that you demand of me. I have always admired you for your view of the world, for the way you deal with those around you, for your insights collected from perspectives so easily dismissed by most of us. Goddess, I am thankful to be allowed to follow your caring guidance.
So much violence and pain is tolerated on the basis of “we are the good ones”. Trying to draw a clear line between good and evil, denying all room for vagueness, ambiguity, is such a cheap way to divide and rule - and it completely fails to take the imperfect human nature into account. Not everyone can be as close to perfection as goddess is - and we need room to grow, room to learn and evolve. But “evil” is a handy concept, because it allows to dismiss the suffering of those who supposedly deserve it - they’re evil after all, their suffering is justified and an expression of the victory of good.
It’s painful to be confronted with this ridiculously simple tool to exert control over a group again and again, because it works every single time, no matter how ridiculous.
Thank you, goddess, for opening my eyes to the structures of power that surround me.
Thank you for emboldening me with the confidence to withdraw from them, and to focus on you instead.
Thank you, goddess, for protecting me from these fights.
Thank you, goddess, for being the only guiding light that I need.
Meow.
