Thoughts on Dietary Rules
As of today, I am not aware of any explicit dietary rules that my goddess may have commanded. Nonetheless, I want to live in religious devotion in as many aspects as possible, and that means I must carefully and thoroughly examine my actions against whatever divine word has been revealed to me, even if it’s very limited. Of course, my interpretation must never supersede actual orders, but for now, I have to rely on what I have learned so far, hoping that living my life accordingly will please my most sublime goddess, and praying that she may correct any wrong ideas or assumptions.
The reason why this is so such a central topic is because food and drink are instrumental to fulfilling one of the most sacred divine orders so far:
remember, it is your task, in honor of the cult and its leader whom you so readily joined, to look out for yourselves, your bodies and your minds. after all, they are its, my property, and property should look after itself, keep itself maintenanced as best it can.
Drinking is especially important in this context:
yes, yes. staying hydrated is hard, we all know that. but dehydration is dangerous. and if, as you are always so keen to profess, your life is in my hands alone then so is its disposal, the right to toy with and destroy it. in mine alone, not yours. acting against it is, therefore, nothing less than sinful.
However, in her gentle and caring ways, she also emphasizes that every cultist’s duty goes beyond mere hydration:
so what i want you to do is to once in a while treat yourself to something to drink that you like and enjoy. do so, enjoy it, remind yourself that this, too, is staying hydrated. and therefore this too is an act in service of your goddess.
So this seems to not be about having to cut myself off every enjoyment of food, reducing it to mere sustenance - at least in principle, I seem to be able serve my goddess by enjoying drinks and meals, and that seems very plausible given what she has taught me so far.
She has also repeatedly emphasized the importance of everyone consuming only what they can consume, be it due to allergies, convictions, or difficulties with certain kinds of food. No one who didn’t plan to move in with me has ever demonstrated such care, diligence, and kind affirmations when it comes to catering to my very particular food needs, and I know that I am not the only being who has been treated this way.
So to summarize, I think I’ll stick to three rules, in the hopes that they may please my goddess.
- Celebrate the enjoyment of food and drinks in her name, in deep gratefulness
- Everyone shall only eat what they can and like, and I will try my best to follow the divine example and provide those whose meals I prepare with food that they can enjoy
- Clean up flour residue after baking, my kitchen must always be in a state where I can make gluten-free cinnamon rolls on short notice in divine service :3 (sadly, this not currently possible for me, but I will change that)
Holy lynx,
I hope I did not utterly fail to follow your orders. Please look down upon me in gentle light. I know that my judgment is prone to errors, and that your divine wisdom can never be replaced. My highest aim is and remains to faithfully serve you, so please, help me overcome any mistakes I might have made in my assessment. For your word is my only truth.
Meow!
Goddess has meanwhile clarified her dietary rules:
and so i hand you these words: a diet should be kept and made up in such a way that it creates the highest amount of pleasure to oneself and others whilst causing the least amount of harm to oneself and all those around one, big or small, visible or invisible, in accordance to one’s individual need.
